Ranchi: One of the biggest casualties of the Covid-19 pandemic and the resultant lockdown has been institutionalised education. Schools have been shut to prevent the spread of the virus and this has given way to online classrooms, a very new concept in India even for the most sophisticated schools.
Punjab tops in online education ,Jharkhand ranks 13th in the country in terms of online studies. The Department of School Education and Literacy has prepared a report on online reading of school children across the country. The report has been prepared by the Education Department on the basis of the survey conducted by ASER (Annual Status of Education Report). According to the report, 47.9 percent of Jharkhand school children have a smartphone. Jharkhand is better than many states in terms of online education.
The situation in Jharkhand is better than in Rajasthan, Odisha, West Bengal and Bihar. 22.4 percent of children are being sent learning materials through WhatsApp. School is closed in Jharkhand since 17 March.
