California: Researchers Holly B. Shakya of the University of California and Nicholas A. Kristakis of Yale University have led this study. According to the data available by Facebook in the year 2016, every person spends an average of 50 minutes on Facebook every day. The study researched 5208 subjects in 2013, 2014 and 2015. This sample was taken as a representation of the population of America. The activities of each subject were monitored for two years.

Negative impact on personality

This research done on Facebook concluded that it has a negative effect on good personality. Apart from this, it was also found that five to eight percent of cases were related to mental deficiency in case of updating status, clicking on a link, writing etc. The researchers said that we also measured mental and physical health as reported by the users themselves. It analyzed the likes, number of friends and hours spent on Facebook. This was done directly by keeping an eye on their account.
