BREAKING NEWS: Three scientists searching for Hepatitis-C virus got Nobel Prize
The 2020 #NobelPrize in Physiology or Medicine has been awarded jointly to Harvey J. Alter, Michael Houghton and Charles M. Rice “for the discovery of Hepatitis C virus.”
Nobel committee head Thomas Pearlman announced it in Stockholm.
The World Health Organization estimates that there are 70 million hepatitis cases in the world, and 4 million people die due to the disease every year. This disease is classified as chronic disease and is the leading cause of liver diseases and cancer.
